Russia Tears Ukraine Apart
On 24 February 2022, Russia reinvaded Ukraine in a major escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian War which began in 2014 and after seven months of intense fighting, Russia has captured four major regions of Ukraine. The eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia and Kherson to the south, have now voted in favour of joining Russia and the Russian State Duma will approve a treaty to formally incorporate these regions into the Russian territory soon.
The hurried referendum by Russia yielded decisive results in its favour. Although called a ‘sham’ referendum by the West, Russia is very serious about annexing these regions. It has even flashed the nuclear card more than once to deter any Ukrainian and Western misadventures on what will soon be Russian territory. So, it is unmistakably true that if Russia annexes the four Ukrainian regions, Putin could portray Ukrainian attempts to recapture them as an attack on Russia itself. Watch to know more.
