Ukraine Grain Deal
The Ukraine grain deal has been perhaps the only thing that both Russia and Ukraine have agreed to in a very long time. Brokered by Turkey and implemented by the United Nations, the grain deal has played a crucial role in averting a global food crisis. It has also thrown a lifeline to Ukraine’s economy as Kyiv earns some cash by selling grains around the world. But the deal is now in jeopardy, because Russia says its end of the bargain is not really being made to work. The deal, mind you, also allowed for Russian grain and fertilisers to make their way out of the Black Sea via the Port of Odessa. But Moscow says its grain and fertilisers aren’t being shipped.
